In May of ‘76 a pilot assembly plant was set up at Sowton Industrial Estate, Exeter, Devon.
MIE sales and distribution moved to the Falcon Road factory, Sowton Industrial estate, Devon from Broadwick Street London and the stores from Walton On Thames Surrey.

In May Hill-Rom announce the closure of MIE and on the 7th July the majority of the staff leave, with just a few remaining staff to finalise the closure
